V3 Wii Adapter Troubleshooting
Star Power Activating Automatically
This adapter is designed to slot into the Wiimote slot of your controller. The tilt functionality is digital and the adapter must be positioned correctly for tilt to work properly.
If you strum with your right hand, the “V3” on the adapter should be visible from the back of the guitar.
If you strum with your left hand, the “V3” on the adapter should be visible from the front of the guitar.
If Star Power/Overdrive is activating “automatically” in game, then you most likely have the adapter positioned the wrong way!
Star Power Not Activating
Make sure that your adapter is oriented correctly using the above section. If you are still having issues, try the following:
Open Clone Hero, hit the start button on your guitar, and choose a profile to sign in with.
Hit the start button again, and scroll down until you see the Tilt option; make sure it is checked!
USB Device Not Recognized/Descriptor Error
Make sure you have the latest version of the RCM Programming Tool downloaded.
- Hold down the pinhole button on the top of the adapter with a slim tool, such as a paper clip.
Keep this button held down while plugging the adapter into your PC. If done correctly, you will see a removable drive named RPI-RP2 show under This PC.
Copy and paste the following file to the drive:
The drive will disconnect and reconnect after a few seconds. Once it reconnects, load up the RCM Programming Tool.
- Make sure "RCM Wii Guitar Adapter - Default" is selected, then click "Erase and Configure".
Once the status bar on the bottom says Done, you can close the tool and try using it in game!
Adapter Causing Mouse Movement/Keyboard Inputs
Steam can cause issues when it is open when the adapter is in use, as it will try to remap the controls on its own.
- Close Steam by clicking Exit under the Steam menu. Make sure it is closed in the System Tray on the bottom right hand corner of your desktop as well.
Steam may be set to open upon startup and cause this issue again. Make sure to close it again before using the adapter!
